Year Noted

Every month CTMH has a special promotion.  In the month of January the kit was created with making a mini-album using paper pre-designed 4X6 panels that could slide into the 4X6 sleeves.

Alot of ladies created beautiful cards, but I decided to see if I could create 2 layouts using one kit.  Even though I was limited to 4X6 pieces of able to create the allusion of having 12" paper.

On the bottom right side of my page I overlapped 2 pieces of paper to make a  1 1/2 X 10" strip of paper.  I used the gold foil stickease to cover my seam.  Voila!
I used Creme Brulee` re-inker along with alcohol in my CTMH spray pen to create a fun spritz background to my white daisy layouts.  Above is a close up.  I also was able to stamp directly onto my gold foil embellishment with ease using my clear acrylix stamp.  You just need to be careful to stamp straight on without wiggling to much and make sure your ink dries completely.  I heat set mine using my heat gun to ensure no smudges.

My second layout was a snap.  I used CTMH's Artbooking Cricut cartridge to create an overlay for each side of my layout.  I was able to slide my 4X6 pieces of paper under my template to make this wonderful layout.  With left over scraps I added my dovetailed pieces.  I also created the fun Picture My Life 3X4 card using CTMH's Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge.  Although it is hard to see I added 3D foam tape to pop it up.  I really liked the gold foil stickease.  They added just enough pop to draw your eye to each photo.

Once my had my layout complete now I need to find some fun photos for it.  So I decided to use my photos of me hanging out with my friends at Disneyland Convention.  Everything just fell into place for this layout without a lot of fuss.

Have fun with it!

Hearst Castle - Hopscotch

Here is another layout I did using pictures from our recent trip to California.

We drove from Monterey down HWY 1 for a great coastal view and stopped in San Simeon to do a tour of the Hearst Castle. The tour starts out with a 17 mile bus trip up the mountain to the castle. The views from the top are so beautiful. We had perfect weather for our visit to such a beautiful place.

Everything is grand at the Hearst Castle. The amount of art in this castle is amazing. The walls are covered in beautiful tapestries from the 1800's, statues inside and outside and all over the grounds, even the ceilings have wood carvings covering them. Everywhere you look there is a piece of history.

Of course I took a ton of pictures and had a hard time figuring out which ones to not use.  Even when I use flip flaps I can't use all of my great photos.  Below shows the left side of my layout with a 12X4 flip flap opened to the far left as well as a 12X8 flap opened to the right.
We really enjoyed our stop at the Hearst Castle. After our tour of the Grande Rooms we were free to roam the grounds outside the castle. There are 2 large guests amongst the grounds along with statues everywhere. Steve was really disappointed to see that the Roman Pool was empty, due to the drought in California. You can still see how big it is and how wonderful it would be to take a dip!
On the right side of my layout I used the plastic sleeve inserts from the Holiday Happenings Crush book to create a double flip flap below. I was able to add 10 photos from our tour of the Hearst Castle. You can see that I used Gold Polka Dot washi tape to make my flip flap book. I also used some of the Hopscotch Picture My Life inserts along with my photos.

It certainly was a beautiful day for our tour. The skies were clear and blue. I can see why Hearst picked this location to build his castle. Below is the right page.

We took the Grande Rooms Tour, which highlights the Assembly Room (Living Room for us regular folk) Refectory Room (where you hang out after dinner), Billard Room, Theater, Dinning Hall, Gardens, Neptune Pool and Roman Pool, yeah 2 pools. The Neptune Pool even has gold mosaic tiles. Hayley was impressed with that herself. Supposedly Clark Gable liked to have rendezvous with the ladies at the Neptune pool.

The history of this beautiful castle is amazing. Well worth the stop. Ironically one of her teachers was talking about it in class and Hayley was able to talk about it. Her teacher was surprised that she knew so much.

Products used to create my layout are all CTMH:
Hopscotch Worshop on the Go

Hopscotch Assortment
Hopscotch Complements
Flaxen Twine
Gold Sequins
White Shimmer Trim - I used my Shin Shan marker to color it blue to match my layout - under my chevron punched border on the left side of my layout
Gold Polka Dot Washi Tape

Please contact me if you have any questions. I will be glad to answer them.

Till next time,

Heartstrings Mini Album

I am really loving Close to my Hearts new paper this year.  It is hard to decide what to play with when I have so many options.  Right now I am really having fun creating with our newest paper, Heartstrings.

I wanted to use up some of my extra photos from our Summer vacation and create this fun Valentine for my hubby.  With the push of a couple of buttons on my Cricut Explore I was able to cut out the album shapes.  Then I used up scraps of card stock to mat my photos and stamp fun sayings to go with my pictures.

One of the beauties of using CTMH's Cricut cartridges is you can whip up a mini album in no time with the push of a couple of buttons!
It doesn't take a lot to embellish a mini album.  Gather up all of your extra bling left over from another project and use it up.  Don't be a hoarder.  lol

Use some of those small stamps that you have to create some fun pop ups for your mini album to convey your thoughts.
Now I have a great gift to give to my hubby for Valentine's Day.  You can create your very own just as easy.  Take some time to create in your space and make something wonderful for someone you love.

Supplies used are all CTMH:
Paper: Heart Strings; White Daisy CS, Sorbet CS, Whisper CS, Lagoon CS
Inks: Lagoon, Cranberry, Sorbet
Embellishment: Aqua Dots, Pixie Thick Twine, Slate Diagnol Ribbon, Heartstrings Assortment, Clear Sparkles colored with Shin Shan markers & Teal Shimmer trim
Other:  Cricut CTMH Cartridges, micro-tip scissors

Happy crafting my friends!
